Are China Cabinets Outdated
If you don t have china there s no need for a china cabinet.
Are china cabinets outdated. I think the suites of matching furniture are the ones that really look dated. Our design taste is along the lines of arhaus and pottery barn traditional and somewhat formal with a hint of farmhouse. All of these were to be displayed in an elegant wooden cabinet which is commonly known as the china cabinet. Most floor plans now are going for more openness too and larger buffet pieces are taking their place.
In my opinion china cabinets are old fashioned but you make it work because your piece is painted and unexpected. They didn t register for it when they married and could care less now. Nevertheless the cabinet itself is usually a purchase people have to make themselves unless it is inherited. Please ignore all the stupid advice by amateur decorators who are telling you what your problem is.
Separate dining rooms aren t always large enough to house a dining table for 6 8 and a china cabinet. I believe that the reason china cabinets may no longer be the in thing is because of the way houses are built or the style of home. Most of the second hand china cabinets we see are either antique styles we don t like and or look dated. Many newlyweds would register for china and chose to receive them as wedding gifts.
I don t think it s the china cabinets that are outdated it s the china itself.
